Project Peppercorn

ADP Consulting is providing pro bono services engineering to support the transformation of an unused veterinary clinic into consulting rooms for youth at risk in the Morayfield area in Brisbane. The project, called Project Peppercorn, will enable Act for Kids to provide on-the-ground services and will see the Caboolture Sports Club granting a peppercorn lease on the property.

The Act for Kids facilities will be transformed to accommodate three therapy rooms as well as welcoming indoor and outdoor spaces that will enable Act for Kids to provide a variety of services to at-risk children, youth and families. Initially, the facility will be the site for an Education Queensland funded therapy team working with local schools. Students referred to the service will receive integrated therapeutic support from a trauma-informed multidisciplinary team (Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy and Psychology) to reduce the impact of trauma and subsequent barriers to educational access, learning and success. In the future, it is planned to utilise cooking facilities to host workshops to educate parents and young adults on the importance of kitchen safety and healthy nutrition and incorporate a bike repair mentoring workshop, where young people will learn the skills to build and maintain bicycles, through positive reinforcement. Act for Kids vision for the space is to create a one-stop shop that truly meets the needs of the community.

These vital services will help children and teenagers who have suffered physical, emotional, and verbal abuse from parents and carers.

Property Industry Foundation, Auto & General Insurance and Liebke Builders will work together to make it fit for purpose.
